Solid Waste & Recycling Plan Review: Nashville restaurant guide

Metro Department of Waste Services

What it is

Building permits that trigger it need a waste management plan showing dumpster/compactor and recycling container locations, pads and truck access.

When a restaurant needs it

New commercial construction or renovations that trigger solid waste review on the permit checklist.

How to apply

Email the Waste Management Plan to metrowaste@nashville.gov. From January 1, 2026, plans must be separate construction drawings.
