Sewer Capacity Certification Letter: Miami restaurant guide

Miami-Dade County — DERM / WASD Confirm with the city

What it is

County confirmation that the sewer system can take the added wastewater flow from your project. Required before building plans are approved when flow increases.

When a restaurant needs it

When the project increases sewer flow, for example converting a space to a restaurant, adding restaurant seating, or new construction.

How to apply

Submit through the Miami-Dade plan review process with a signed Sewer Service Connection Affidavit.

Documents you’ll need

Fee
Varies — the County's sewer capacity page and its October 2026 fee schedule list different amounts; confirm with Environmental Plan Review at 305-372-6899
Processing time
About 3–5 days.
Renewal
Letter valid 90 days; submit building plans within that window. It stays active while the building permit is active.
Who files
The owner, architect/engineer or permit expediter applies.

Good to know

Time it with your building permit submission. An expired 90-day letter means paying again.
