Valet Zone Permit (Temporary or Permanent) + Valet Operator Permit: Austin restaurant guide
Austin Transportation & Public Works — Right-of-Way Management
What it is
Curbside valet in Austin needs two things: a licensed Valet Operator (your valet company's annual TPW permit, $475) and a Valet Zone permit for the curb space in front of your restaurant (temporary zones $100 application + $70 per space per day; permanent zones require a licensed operator, insurance, a resolution of authority, signage and annual renewal). Zones need at least 66 ft of curb, a 28-ft-wide street and a 6-ft pedestrian path.
When a restaurant needs it
If you want valet parking at the curb (not needed for valet inside a private lot).
How to apply
Hire a permitted valet operator (or have your company get the operator permit), then apply for the valet zone in the AB+C portal under Right-of-Way Permits with the notarized application, route map, zone photos, parking-facility contract and $500,000-per-occurrence general liability naming the City.
Documents you’ll need
- Valet Operator permit (annual, $475)
- Notarized valet zone application
- Vehicle route map and parking facility contract
- Current photos of the proposed zone
- GL insurance $500,000 per occurrence naming the City as additional insured
- Resolution of Authority
Good to know
The City installs the zone signs at your cost; a zone cannot block crosswalks, bus stops or fire access.
