AFD Fire Plan Review, Fire Systems & Fire Final for CO: Austin restaurant guide

What it is

AFD reviews building and fire-system plans (sprinklers, fire alarm) under the 2024 IFC and performs the 'Fire Final for Certificate of Occupancy' inspection.

When a restaurant needs it

Every building permit or change of use; separate fire-system submittals when sprinklers or alarms are added or modified.

How to apply

Fire life-safety review happens inside DSD commercial plan review; fire system contractors upload sprinkler/alarm submittals through AFD's Fire System Plan Review Form, and inspections are requested through the AFD Inspection Request Intake Form.
